Pemerintah Kabupaten Kepulauan Mentawai (Mentawai Health Department, MHD)

SurfAid has formed a strong relationship with the MHD to ensure that the department receives the most current protocols and updates on SurfAid health projects. SurfAid is focused on strengthening the existing facilities of the MHD and the training and education of its medical staff.

Yayasan Kirékat

Kirekat is a local NGO established with the objective of improving living conditions of the indigenous Mentawai population. Kirekat specifically aims to improve collaboration among traditional healers, government facilities, and missionary clinics in the delivery of primary healthcare. Kirekat will set up demonstration health projects, including the construction of clinics and deployment of medical staff.

SurfAid supports Kirekat in achieving its goals.

Local Empowerment Assistance Project (LEAP)

LEAP Local Empowerment Assistance Project is a non-government development organization dedicated to assisting Indonesian village communities, through poverty relief and small industry implementation.

Totalitas

Based in Padang, Totalitas is an NGO specializing in community development. Through this technique, Totalitas seeks to build fair societies that lift the standard of living of all those suffering from poverty or neglect. Children's rights are key to their approach along with decent living conditions for all. Totalitas has supported SurfAid from the outset and has trained SurfAid staff in the principles of community development.

Yayasan Bhineka Tunggal Ika  (YBTI)

Yayasan Bhineka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity Foundation) was set up in 1996 and much of the organization's activities are centered on the Mentawai Islands.

YBTI is working to provide a better life for deprived people in remote villages of Indonesia through education. YBTI does this by recruiting young people from villages and giving them intensive training in the principles of child education, empowering them to give children in remote villages a rounded education using creative methods based on active participation.

YBTI has supported SurfAid's vision since the outset and today provides vital training and support to all SurfAid staff being deployed in the islands to educate Mentawai communities about malaria and basic health issues.

Yayasan Pantai Peduli Sorake (YPPS)

Yayasan Pantai Peduli Sorake (The Sorake Beach Care Club) legally formed as an NGO in April to respond to the devastating impact of the two natural disasters that caused massive widespread damage in the region.
